National Seminar on “Tribal Languages and Inclusivity in Ladakh” concludes at UOL, Kargil Campus

Kargil, May 07, 2025 – The valedictory session of the two-day national seminar organized by the Tribal Research Institute, Kargil Campus concluded today under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha.

Chief Guest Mr. Kacho Asfandyar Khan (Retd. IAS) and Guest of Honour Dr. Mehboob Ali (In-charge Administration) graced the occasion. Also present were Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan (Director, TRI), tribal language experts, faculty, students, school heads, Team STRINGMO, and participants of the tribal painting workshop.

The ceremony included felicitations and distribution of certificates and mementos to all contributors, including students, faculty, resource persons, and Team STRINGMO.

Mr. Asfandyar Khan appreciated the efforts of the university and TRI in promoting tribal languages and stressed their preservation through education, media, and community support.

Dr. Mehboob Ali highlighted the VC’s vision—“Rooted in traditions and focused on the future”—and announced two new college-level courses on traditional knowledge.

A presentation by Mr. Sajjad Bob highlighted the week-long tribal painting workshop involving 50 students in traditional art forms. Participants shared transformative experiences and expressed gratitude to TRI and STRINGMO.

Dr. Pirzada Athar welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all stakeholders for the seminar’s success.
