LAHDC-Leh Reviews Preparations for High-Profile Religious Events in Matho Village

Leh, May 18: The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh is actively reviewing preparations for significant upcoming religious events in Matho village, including the anticipated visit of His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin Rinpoche in July 2025 and the Yerchos Chenmo scheduled for 2026.
Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, along with Hon’ble Executive Councillor Stanzin Chosphel and DC/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, visited Matho village to assess the progress of developmental works and ensure coordinated arrangements. Nominated Councillor Ven. Konchok Tsepel also accompanied the delegation.
During the visit, the Hon’ble CEC inspected the Matho Gonpa and the newly constructed Matho Photang, where finishing touches are currently underway. He reviewed the development of infrastructure and public amenities and instructed all executing agencies to collaborate effectively to complete the remaining tasks well in advance. He emphasized the need for the preparations to align with the spiritual and cultural significance of the events and to accommodate the expected influx of devotees and visitors.
Hon’ble Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble CEC for his consistent support towards the development of Matho Photang and Gonpa. He also outlined preliminary plans for next year’s Yerchos Chenmo and requested the Council’s continued support to ensure the event’s smooth execution.
The site visit saw the participation of key officials, including the Chief Planning Officer, Leh; Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department, Leh; and various Executive Engineers from departments such as Construction, Public Health and Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Electric Distribution, Mechanical Division, Rural Engineering Wing, PMGSY, Leh, as well as the Block Development Officer, Chuchot, and other officials. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of the local administration to ensure the successful hosting of these important religious gatherings.
