Ladakh Corps and University Partner for Education and Research

Fire and Fury Corps and the University of Ladakh signed a Memorandum of Understanding for greater coordination in the fields of higher education and joint research on 29 May 2025. Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, UYSM, SC**, SM, VSM, GOC Fire and Fury Corps and Prof Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor of Ladakh University exchanged the MoU in a grand ceremony held at Leh. Senior military and UT Administration officers attended the event.
The collaboration between the Indian Army and the University of Ladakh will enhance the understanding of Ladakh’s strategic significance, cultural heritage and regional dynamics, along with their impact on national security. This initiative aims to ensure that military personnel possess comprehensive knowledge of Ladakh’s regional aspirations and security challenges. In the long run, it will promote a culture of research and analysis to tackle emerging security threats with practical solutions while expanding the pool of military personnel with specialised expertise in strategic management and national security. It will facilitate collaboration between academia and military practitioners, enhancing leadership and management skills for both military and university students.
The University has offered 10% of supernumerary vacancies in all courses for the Indian Army. The beneficiaries are not only the serving Army personnel, it is also extended to Ex Servicemen and their dependents. Veer Naris, Army Widows and their children can also benefit from this MoU. The beneficiaries are not restricted to those serving in Ladakh, it is open to all Army personnel and dependents Pan India.
