Vaccination drive for Hajj pilgrims held in Kargil District
Kargil, April 25, 2025: The vaccination drive for all selected Hajj pilgrims 2025 from District Kargil was successfully concluded today, with vaccination camps held across various Blocks of the District, culminating in a major vaccination camp in the Office Complex of Chief Medical Officer, Kargil.
The event was held in the presence of Chairperson, Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Mohd. Ali Majaz; Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho; Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Liyaqat Ali; District Immunization Officer (DIO), Dr Rabia Banoo; Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr. Jalil Wani and Chief Agriculture Officer, Ashiq Hussain Basharat among other dignitaries.
Chairperson, Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Mohd Ali Majaz extended his gratitude to all attendees and the medical staff. He appreciated the pilgrims’ patience during the process and highlighted the departure schedule, advising all pilgrims to reach the Hajj House in Srinagar by May 8, 2025. The departure from Srinagar is scheduled for May 9, 2025, he added. He urged all pilgrims to proceed with caution and prioritize their safety throughout the journey. Further, he enlightened the gathering about the entire process of administrative requirements the procedure of the pilgrimage.

ADC Imteeaz Kacho expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chairperson, Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Mohd Ali Majaz, CMO and the entire medical fraternity for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the exercise of vaccination. He emphasized the importance of immunization as a vital health measure for the sacred Hajj journey and noted that, although the vaccination was originally scheduled for an earlier date, it had to be postponed to April 25 due to adverse climatic conditions.
The ADC congratulated all Hajj pilgrims offering them best wishes for a safe and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage. He also advised pilgrims to carry lightweight baggage to maintain ease and comfort throughout their journey. Concluding his address, he appreciated the efforts of all concerned departments involved for their coordination and support.
CMO Dr. Liyaqat Ali thanked the Chairperson, Haj Committee, Ladakh, the ADC and all healthcare professionals for their active involvement. He stressed on the necessity of medical check-ups and vaccinations for Hajj pilgrims to ensure their well-being.
The session concluded with the traditional offering of khataqs, symbolizing blessings and good wishes for all pilgrims embarking on the sacred journey of Hajj.
