MeT predicts moderate to heavy rainfall in J&K from April 18
Srinagar, April 15 (KINS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday issued a weather alert forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir from April 18 to 20, following a brief period of dry weather.
According to the department, weather conditions will remain “generally dry” from April 15 to 17. However, a significant shift is expected from the evening of April 18, with light to moderate rain and snowfall likely over higher reaches, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds.
“There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated to scattered locations on April 18 and 19,” a MeT spokesperson said, cautioning that the wet spell may lead to temporary disruptions in travel and daily activity in sensitive areas.

In view of the expected rainfall, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning about the possibility of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas, particularly along hilly and mountainous routes.
Farmers have been advised to carry out farm operations before April 17, making the most of the current dry spell.
Tourists, transporters, and local travelers have been urged to stay updated with official weather, traffic, and administrative advisories while planning their movements during the wet weather window.(KINS)
