Ladakh Congress Holds Massive Protest Over Long-Pending Public Issues
Leh, April 02: The Congress Committee Leh organized a large protest rally at Leh Polo Ground on Wednesday, which saw massive participation from the public and Congress supporters, including from Kargil district. The protesters strongly criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of neglecting the people of Ladakh.
Congress leaders and councilors, addressing the gathering, demanded the inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution to safeguard the region’s employment, land rights, and cultural identity. They also expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in negotiations with the High-Power Committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Speakers highlighted that not a single gazetted post has been created in Ladakh since it became a Union Territory (UT), leaving educated youth struggling with unemployment. The Congress demanded the immediate establishment of a Service Selection Board in Ladakh to address the job crisis. Additionally, they called for constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule to protect Ladakh’s cultural, land, and heritage rights.
