LG BD Mishra hosts Iftar party for people from different communities of Leh district
Leh, March 22, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) hosted Iftar party for people from different communities of Leh district.
Expressing his happiness at the opportunity to host the Iftar party during the holy month of Ramadan and seeing people from different walks of life assembled for the event, the HLG highlighted the significance of Ramadan Kareem for Muslims. He spoke about the five pillars of Islam, which are Shahaadah (Profession of Faith), Salaat (Prayer), Zakat (Alms giving), Roza/Sawm (Fasting) and Haj (Pilgrimage). He emphasised the importance of observing Zakat (Alms giving) and helping those in need.
Stating that the holy month of Ramadan teaches the lessons of benevolence and brotherhood, the HLG underscored the significance of observing fast during this Holy month as one gets first-hand experience of what it feels like when one is denied food and water during the scorching summer months and chilling winter months. Emphasising Sallallahu alaihi wasallam’s teaching of brotherhood and compassion along with living life for others and emulating his teachings, the HLG stated that we, as humans, must play the roles assigned to us by the Almighty and strive hard to serve humanity in the best way possible. One must be great in one’s deed-something which the holy month of Ramadan teaches us, asserted the HLG.
