Leh Women’s Delegation Seeks Sanitary Waste Disposal Solutions in Rural Ladakh

Leh, March 6: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson was called on by a delegation from the All Religions Women’s Wing, led by Kunzes Dolma Jawo, President LBA, Women’s Wing; Nasreen Maryam, President of the Women’s Wing of Anjuman Imamia; Aisha Malo, President of the Women’s Wing of Anjuman-e-Moin-ul-Islam, and Diskit Angmo, Secretary of the LBA Women’s Wing.

The delegation highlighted that in areas such as Nubra, Tangtse, Durbuk, Nyoma, Shyam, and other rural areas of Leh, they do not have a proper system for disposing of sanitary napkins and diapers, which is causing environmental pollution. They requested the installation of incineration plants, particularly in these regions, stating that it would help manage waste more effectively.

The CEC assured full support, stating that the council would take the necessary steps to set up incineration facilities in these areas as soon as possible.
