IAF Airlifts Stranded Passengers from Chandigarh to Leh and Nubra at LAHDC’s Request 

Leh, March 6,2025: Several passengers traveling to Leh and Nubra were left stranded in Chandigarh due to flight cancellations, causing significant disruption to their travel plans.

Responding swiftly to the situation, the Indian Armed Force (IAF), at the request made from LAHDC Leh, successfully airlifted 250 passengers from Chandigarh to Leh and another 123 passengers to Thoise Airport, Nubra. This prompt action provided much-needed relief to those affected, ensuring their safe and timely arrival at their destinations.

CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Indian Army and Air Force for their immediate assistance. He also extended his gratitude to the GOC 14 Corps, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, UYSM, SC**, SM, VSM, and Air Commodore Sanjay Prabhu, VSM, AOC 21 Wing AFS Leh, along with other armed forces officials, for their commendable efforts in facilitating this crucial support.

Additionally, CEC extended his appreciation to DC/CEO, Santosh Sukhadeve, for closely monitoring the entire operation, ensuring its smooth execution. He also acknowledged the persistent coordination and dedicated effort of Attaullah Khan, Naib Tehsildar/Nodal Officer, Air Maintenance Leh, whose commitment played a crucial role in successfully airlifting the stranded passengers.

Furthermore, CEC extended his appreciation to LO Chandigarh, Stanzin Chosgail; LO Nubra, Habibullah Naib Tehsildar; Tundup Giatso, Ground Assistant Army Airport Leh, for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in coordinating the whole operation. 

The coordinated efforts of LAHDC and the swift response of the IAF ensured that stranded passengers reached their destinations safely.
