Grand Mourning Procession Held in Kargil to Commemorate the Martyrdom of Imam Ali (A.S.)
Kargil, March 22: In remembrance of the martyrdom of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.), mourning gatherings were held worldwide, including a large-scale mourning procession in the Kargil district. Thousands of mourners participated in the procession to pay homage to Imam Ali (A.S.), known as Haider-e-Karrar.
The largest gathering in the district headquarters was organized by the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil and the Jamiat Ulama Isna Ashriya Kargil, which saw a significant turnout of devotees. Starting at 11 a.m., mourning contingents from various areas, including Sout, Hardass, Chanigund, Gongma Kargil, Pashkum, and Minji, entered Kargil city.
The mourning procession, associated with the Islamia School, began from the Islamia School premises and proceeded towards the central market, concluding at the Inqilab Manzil. Participants engaged in noha recitations and chest-beating (sine-zani) as expressions of grief. Upon reaching Inqilab Manzil, religious scholars delivered detailed speeches on the tragic martyrdom of Imam Ali (A.S.), followed by prayers marking the end of the procession.

Meanwhile, a second procession, organized by the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), commenced after the Zuhr prayers from the Jamia Masjid Kargil. Mourners expressed their sorrow through weeping, noha recitations, and chest beating as they marched through Lal Chowk and Khomeini Chowk, culminating at Hussaini Park. At the park, participants raised slogans against global arrogance, particularly targeting the U.S., Israel, the U.K., and Takfiri terrorists. They also voiced support for the oppressed people of Palestine, Yemeni resistance fighters, and the Lebanese people.
Upon arrival at Hussaini Park, the venue had already been adorned with black banners and flags by the volunteers of Basij-e-Imam. Religious scholar Sheikh Hassnain Rizwani shed light on the martyrdom of Imam Ali (A.S.), and the procession concluded with collective slogans by Basiji youth.
