WWF India Officials Meet CEC Tashi Gyalson to Discuss Conservation & environmental education in Changthang
Leh, January 23: A delegation of WWF India team, including Rigzin Dawa (Senior Programme Officer), Padma Dolker (Project Officer), and Phuntsog Angmo (Senior Education Officer) called on Hon’ble Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson in the presence of Hon’ble Executive Councillor Tashi Namgyal Yakzee to discuss conservation initiatives and environmental education in Ladakh.
Sh. Rigzin Dawa and Ms. Padma Dolker updated the officials on WWF-India’s visioning work (A Coomunity-Led Vision for People and Nature) in Changthang, where 24 community consultations were conducted to address conservation, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and sustainable livelihoods. They also briefed them on the upcoming Multi-Stakeholder Meet in February 2025, which will bring together LAHDC Leh, Ladakh UT Administration, NGOs, civil society organizations, and pastoral communities to strengthen conservation efforts.
Senior Education Officer highlighted WWF-India’s environmental education programs in Ladakh, including Mission Khoryug, EPMS, MCoP, WWGC Quiz, TTPC, and ECHO, aimed at engaging students and educators in conservation.

Additionally, WWF India Calendar was also launched further promoting awareness of conservation in Ladakh.
CEC Tashi Gyalson and EC Tashi Namgyal Yakzee appreciated WWF India’s efforts and expressed LAHDC support for conservation and education initiatives in Changthang.
