Leh, 29 January, 2025: Several delegations of ex-servicemen groups called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat today. The meetings were attended by Advisor to the HLG, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mr. Shabbir Hussain, JKAS; SDM Kharu; OSD Secretary Tourism, Mr. Mohd Ali Tak; and Councillor Shara, Mr. Sonam Thardot.

In one of the meetings, ex-servicemen groups from Shara Sharnos requested the HLG to allot land at Shara-Upshi for the construction of their office. They informed the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor that they engage in welfare activities which would benefit from the allotment of the land. In response, the Advisor to the HLG directed SDM Kharu to seek a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Nambardar of Shara and send the recommendation to the Revenue Department.

In another meeting, ex-servicemen groups from the Durbuk region requested the HLG for the resettlement of ex-servicemen from the region to the border areas in view of the recent promotion of Border Tourism. In response, the HLG contacted the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division and sought details regarding the matter. The HLG assured the delegation that infrastructure related to tourism would be created by the Army and that the management of these facilities would be outsourced to the local ex-servicemen of the Durbuk region.
