PM’s live telecast on distribution of property cards attended by LG Mishra in Kargil

Kargil, January 18, 2025: The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s live telecast on the distribution of property cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme was attended today by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd), at Auditorium Hall in Kargil, in the presence of a large public gathering.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister joined the event virtually and interacted with selected beneficiaries of the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme from different parts of the country.

At Auditorium Hall Kargil, the event was attended by Executive Councilor Revenue, LAHDC, Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Feroz; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Administrative Secretary (Rural Dev. & PR/IT/Disaster Management), Shashanka Ala (IAS); SSP Kargil Shree Ram R (IPS); ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani; Director of Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, UT Ladakh, Syed Sajjad Qadri; ACR Abdul Majeed Tantray; ACD Razia Khatoon; Tehsildar Kargil, Tanveer Ahmad, district officer and officials, beneficiaries of SVAMITVA scheme and a huge public gathering attended the event.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd), Executive Councilor, Kacho Mohammad Feroz; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil,  Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Administrative Secretary (Rural Dev. & PR/IT/Disaster Management), Shashanka Ala (IAS) distributed the property cards to several beneficiaries of Kargil district.

While speaking at the event, after distributing property cards to beneficiaries, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that the SVAMITVA scheme marks a monumental milestone in India’s rural empowerment and governance journey.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor highlighted the benefits of the SVAMITVA Scheme and commended the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in introducing several such transformative initiatives.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said the scheme will empower landowners by enabling them to secure bank loans and access other benefits to support their growth and development.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor noted that land ownership had been a significant issue in the country, which has now been largely resolved, with further improvements anticipated. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor added that numerous land ownership complaints in Kargil were addressed through the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor further said that the property cards would resolve land disputes and provide clear ownership to the people. The HLG expressed hope that the public would make the most of the benefits offered by the scheme.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said the SVAMITVA Scheme is highly beneficial, has been successfully implemented nationwide and will be effectively implemented in Ladakh as well.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, delivered the welcome address. He expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd), for attending the program despite his busy schedule.

DC Kargil said for the physical distribution of SVAMITVA cards events were conducted at nine different locations across the district. He said that Leh district has achieved 100% implementation of the scheme, while Kargil has achieved 70% implementation, with full coverage expected by March 2025. The DC Kargil also highlighted the numerous benefits the scheme offers to the beneficiaries.

A documentary highlighting the benefits of the scheme was also screened at the Auditorium Hall, and the participating beneficiaries listened attentively.

At the event, Executive Councilor, Kacho Mohammad Feroz expressed his gratitude to the Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the DC Kargil for addressing the land issues raised by the people through the LAHDC Kargil.

He thanked the officers and officials of the Revenue Department Kargil for successfully implementing the scheme. EC Feroz also highlighted that the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor has been at the forefront in addressing and resolving public issues.

“The property card will contain a comprehensive record of the land ownership, assisting in securing loans and resolving village-level issues. It will also support the planning and implementation of various schemes of Government of India,” the EC said.

The EC stated that the initiative was a visionary concept of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and emphasized that people must actively participate in the program and obtain their property cards to fully benefit from the opportunities.

Launched on 24th April 2020 (National Panchayati Raj Day) by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the SVAMITVA Scheme aims to provide “Record of Rights” to property owners in rural Abadi areas using drone and GIS technology.
