Kargil, Dec 05, 2024: School of Agriculture Science and Technology, Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh on Wednesday celebrated World Soil Day in the campus to create awareness among students about the importance of soil and sustainable use of soil for future generations.

Dr. Rinchan Dolkar addressed students on the importance of healthy soil for sustainable agriculture and environmental well-being. She emphasized that soil health is crucial for ensuring food security and maintaining biodiversity.

Dr. Mansoor Ali briefed the students that the day is celebrated in the memory of Late King Bhumi Bol Adulyadej of Thailand, who was a strong advocate for soil conservation. He also elaborated on the importance of soil health cards and how it helps to generate data on soil health which will help to manage soil health.
