Former MLA Ghulam Raza Raises BSNL Tower Issue
Kargil, Ladakh – Former MLA and senior leader Ghulam Raza has brought the pressing issue of BSNL tower connectivity in Lhastaq and other parts of Barsoo to the attention of the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil and the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of BSNL Kargil. Despite the installation of BSNL towers in several areas, including parts of Barsoo, they remain non-functional, causing significant inconvenience to residents. Ghulam Raza highlighted this issue during his discussions with the officials, emphasizing the need for immediate action to activate the towers. In a telephonic conversation with the AGM, Ghulam Raza stressed the challenges faced by the people, particularly students who are unable to access online education, and the difficulties experienced during emergencies. He pointed out that in the digital age, reliable mobile connectivity is essential for education, healthcare, and overall development. Responding to these concerns, the AGM BSNL Kargil acknowledged the delay and assured that the technical and power supply issues preventing the activation of the BSNL towers in Lhastaq and other parts of Barsoo are being resolved. He stated that the towers are expected to become operational in the coming weeks. “The towers are installed and ready, but due to challenges with power supply and charging infrastructure, they are not yet functional. These issues are being addressed on a priority basis, and we request a little more time to resolve them. We are confident that the towers in Lhastaq and Barsoo will be operational very soon,” the AGM explained. Additionally, Ghulam Raza met with the CEC Kargil, who assured him that the matter will be taken up on priority. The CEC reiterated his commitment to improving connectivity in the region and pledged full support to ensure timely activation of the towers. This development is expected to bring much-needed relief to the residents of main areas of of Barsoo, significantly enhancing communication services and boosting education, healthcare, and socio-economic activities.
