Border School Fest: A Vibrant Celebration of Unity at GMMS Sarchey.
VOL DESK ,4 DEC,2024 : The Border School Fest at Government Model Middle School Sarchey transformed its Annual Day into a remarkable celebration of unity and patriotism. Organized in collaboration with the Indian Army and local villagers, the event showcased the resilience and spirit of one of India’s most remote border communities along the Line of Control (LOC).
A standout feature of the event was the presentation of over 27 authentic Batalik Sector cuisines, lovingly prepared and displayed by the villagers. Guests were captivated by this vibrant showcase of cultural heritage, which became a highlight of the festivities.
The celebration was graced by Col. Ajay Kishore Maratha of the Indian Army as the Chief Guest, Mohd Mussa, Zonal Education Officer Kargil, as the Guest of Honour, and Special Guest Shifa Spaldon from Rzamba. Their presence, alongside other dignitaries, parents, and students, added grandeur to the event.

Students enthralled the audience with a colorful cultural program, blending traditional performances with modern dances. The showcase reflected the high-quality education and care provided at the school, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Headmaster Abass Pintoo expressed profound gratitude to the guests who undertook a challenging trek to join the celebration. He lauded the Indian Army’s consistent support and highlighted the school’s ongoing challenges, urging for better facilities to empower the students further.
In his address, Col. Maratha commended the dedication of the school’s staff and the talents of the students. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting educational and infrastructural development in remote border areas, ensuring a brighter future for the children.
Awards and mementos were presented to the Best Supporting Parent, Best Student (Boys and Girls) of the year, and other notable achievers. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of sweets by the Indian Army, adding a sweet touch to the memorable day.
