AAP Kargil Criticizes LAHDC Over Regional Issues
VoL Desk, December 02: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Kargil unit has criticized the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil over various regional concerns, including curtailment of central funds, underutilization of the Capex Budget, demands for district status, and other pressing issues.
The grievances were raised during a press conference held on Sunday at the party office in Kargil, addressed by leaders Mohd Hassan Tamanna and Ehsan Ali.
Tamanna attributed Ladakh’s current challenges to its Union Territory (UT) status. He criticized the allocation of five new districts, with only two for Kargil and three for Leh, claiming it was a deliberate move by the Centre to divide Ladakh and deflect attention from larger regional issues. He called for unity across Ladakh as top leaders prepare to meet the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on December 3 in Delhi to discuss Ladakh’s four-point agenda.
Ehsan Ali stressed the urgency of resolving the gazetted recruitment issue, highlighting its impact on youth, who face anxiety and economic hardships due to delays.
Ali also criticized the state of education in Kargil, citing the lack of teachers in remote schools and holding the District Administration, LAHDC, and UT Administration accountable.
He further raised concerns about ration cuts for beneficiaries, particularly during the harsh winter, and accused the market squad of failing to curb overpricing by shopkeepers. Ali also demanded an increase in e-bus services to the Council Secretariat and District Hospital to alleviate public hardships.
