Foundation Day of 8 States & 5 UTs celebrated at LG Secretariat in presence of LG BD Mishra, First Lady Smt Neelam Mishra 

Leh, Nov 01, 2024: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and First Lady Smt Neelam Mishra attended the function at Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to celebrate the Foundation Day of 8 States and 5 Union Territories, viz. Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar Island, Punjab, Kerala, Haryana, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. All these eight states and five UTs were formed on November 1.

Terming the programme initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to celebrate the foundation day of all states and UTs at the Raj Bhawan/Raj Niwas of all states/UTs of India as remarkable, the HLG   stated that it was the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India who took concrete steps to foster national unity and integration through the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme. The HLG also highlighted the attacks of foreign invaders on India, the plan of the Britishers to divide the unity of the people of India during their colonial rule and the emergence of New India under the apex leadership of Shri Narendra Modi as one of the largest economies in the world.

The HLG stated that the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme is a positive step towards learning the different cultures and traditions of the people of India. He highlighted the importance of becoming good citizens of India and putting the nation first. He also highlighted initiatives taken to provide exposure to Ladakh youth, such as the performance of 12 students from Ladakh at the Rashtrapati Bhawan for the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu on the Foundation Day of UT Ladakh.

Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Shri Ghulam Mehdi stated that the objective of celebrating Foundation Day of various states and UTs is to learn about the cultures and traditions of people from different states/UTs. He appreciated the step taken by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to celebrate India’s unity in diversity.

Shri Ramesh Kumar from GREF, who belongs to Punjab, shared information about his state, its rich culture and heritage and its contribution to the nation’s GDP.  

Earlier, DGP Ladakh Police, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IPS, welcomed the guests.

Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Shri Gulam Mehdi; DGP Ladakh Police, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IPS; Commissioner/Secretary, Dr Vasanthakumar N, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary, Ms Padma Angmo, IIS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin; Secretary, Shri Yetindra Maralkar, IAS; Secretary, Shri Michael D’Souza, IAS; Secretary, Ms Bhanu Prabha, IAS; guests from CRPF, BRO and ITBP from different states serving in Ladakh, staff of Raj Niwas and LG Secretariat were present during the Foundation Day celebrations.
