Kargil, October 08, 2024: The New Districts Committee, Ladakh, commenced tour and its series of meetings on Monday by engaging with delegations from the Zanskar Subdivision. The committee, led by Chairman Shri Pramod Kumar Jain, along with members Shri Kacho Asfandyar Khan, Shri Tsering Angchok, and Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, held discussions to gather views and demands regarding the formation of new districts.

The committee began its outreach in Parkachik, where they attentively listened to the concerns and opinions of local delegations, who also submitted written representations. The committee then proceeded to meet with villagers in Rangdum and Abran, continuing their consultation process. In these meetings, the residents presented their written submissions, outlining their views on the creation of new districts.

Earlier on Tuesday, a comprehensive delegation representing the entire Zanskar Subdivision gathered at the Tourist Reception Centre in Zanskar. This delegation included Executive Councillor Phunsuk Tashi, local councillors, religious leaders, women’s representatives, and youth leaders. They presented a range of representations, articulating their preferences and concerns regarding the district reorganization.

The committee engaged in detailed discussions, considering the various submissions and also consulting with administrative officials, ensuring that the voices from different sections of society were heard and taken into account as part of the district formation process.
