LG chairs meeting to discuss proposed construction of Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh

Leh, Sept 20, 2024: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) chaired a meeting to discuss the proposed construction of Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh.

Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, informed the HLG that UT Administration purchased around 13.7 kanal land in Chandigarh at the cost of around Rs 62 crores for the construction of Ladakh Bhawan with approximately 30 rooms. He also informed that the proposed Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh would benefit patients and students and serve as a transitory area for the working class from Ladakh. He further informed that Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDCO) was assigned the task for the proposed Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh following which a tender was floated and Pureways Infra Private Limited were engaged as consultants for the said project for the preparation of the detailed project plan (DPR).

Architect/consultant, Shri Ashwani briefed the HLG about the site plan, the floor plan, etc of the proposed Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh through a PowerPoint Presentation.

The HLG highlighted the need to keep the utility purpose of the Ladakh Bhawan in mind while preparing the DPR and suggested introducing dormitory facilities instead of building separate rooms in the proposed Ladakh Bhawan. He highlighted the importance of maximum utilisation of the space and the need to remove unnecessary elements from the design. He told the architect/consultant that the UT Administration would inform him about the necessary changes/modifications required in the design of the proposed Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh so that he could make the modifications based on the needs/requirements of the Administration.

Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin, IAS; Chief Engineer, Shri Mutalib; architect/consultant and other officials were present in the meeting.
