LAHDC Leh condoles tragic loss of Inspector Tsewang Namgyal

Leh, Sept 9: It is with profound sadness that we report the tragic loss of Inspector Tsewang Namgyal, a dedicated leader of the UT Disaster Response Force (UTDRF), who lost his life during a rescue operation in the Indus River near Khaltsi. The mission, which aimed to save a minor girl who had drowned, saw the UTDRF boat capsize. Despite the brave efforts of the team, Inspector Namgyal succumbed to the challenges of this perilous situation, has given his life in line of duty.

Inspector Tsewang Namgyal was a stalwart figure in disaster response, having played a pivotal role in numerous rescue operations. His unwavering commitment and courage were evident in every mission he undertook, often putting his own safety at risk to save others. His exemplary service has been a beacon of hope in many crises.

We at LAHDC extend our heartfelt condolences to Inspector Namgyal’s family and colleagues. Chairman/CEC, Adv.Tashi Gyalson, LAHDC, Leh, has conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and recognized Inspector Namgyal’s invaluable service and sacrifice.

In honor of Inspector Namgyal’s bravery, LAHDC will provide an ex gratia payment of 5 lakh to his family. Additionally, 1 lakh will be given to those seriously injured in the incident. H’CEC has also urged the UT Administration to extend an ex gratia payment and award the highest recognition for his distinguished service, for he was also a decorated police officer.

We are grateful for the courageous efforts of all involved and extend our sincere thanks to the rescuers who risked their lives in this difficult situation.
