CEC Dr Jaffer Akhoon visits Achambur village to address grievances of people
Kargil, August 20, 2024: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today visited Achambur village to address various grievances of villagers.
He was accompanied by Exen SVD Sankoo; In-charge SDM Sankoo; General Manager, NHIDCL; Former Executive Councilor, Aga Syed Abass; Contractor of Phase 3 of NH-301 besides other officers and local representatives.
The inhabitants informed the CEC that many grievances including damage of irrigation kuls, construction of breast wall for protection, reconstruction of approach road for agriculture land, crossing pathway for cattle, repair of side drainage, installation of chain–link fence, repair of old village road and compensation of land acquisition for construction of road.

The CEC directed NHIDCL officer, contractor and local representatives to collaboratively prepare a detailed report and reflect all the genuine grievances in changing of scope (COS) and furnish the report for higher authorities of NHIDCL for approval.
CEC Dr Jaffer Akhoon assured the local villagers of Achambur that after getting the approval from the higher authorities they will expedite the works at the earliest.
The CEC also ensured the people of Sangrah Thang that the land compensation of their houses will be done at the earliest.
He also met a delegation of Karchey Khar at Dak Bungalow Sankoo and gave patient hearing to their grievances. The locals projected certain demands including deputation of Headmaster in the Middle School, PET Teacher and renovation of the existing school.
Dr Jaffer Akhoon assured them that within 15 days, a Headmaster will be appointed in the school. He also informed the locals that for the renovation of the school, budget has been kept in SDP and the renovation work will be started soon.
En route to Kargil, the CEC also visited Government Degree College Sankoo and interacted with students. He said he along with Member Parliament Ladakh has taken up the issue of college with the Ministry of Education and Finance, Government of India for the sanction of full fledged college. CEC Kargil said he is hopeful of a positive outcome.
CEC Kargil also announced Rs 3 lakh for the purchase of sports related equipment for the college students and Rs 1.5 lakh for trekking purpose.
