Leh, Aug 05 (DIPR-L): The 8th Ladakh dPal rNgam-Duston 2024 was celebrated today with great enthusiasm and joy at Leh Palace on the occasion of Ladakh UT Declaration Day. This year’s celebration was observed under the theme of ‘50th year of Ladakh Tourism’.

The celebrations for the Ladakh dPal rNgam Duston 2024 commenced with a traditional reception at the Palace Gate, setting a vibrant tone for the day’s events and by lighting of auspicious lamp to the Royal Shrine and (Lharna), a musical offering performed by the musicians at the Royal Courtyard, Leh Palace.

Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, Tashi Gyalson, LAHDC Leh was the chief guest on the occasion. Among others present were the Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Hon’ble Executive Coucillor, Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel; Executive Councillor, RDD, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Hon’ble Councillors, LAHDC, Leh; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, Santosh Sukhadeve; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shruti Arora, Secretary, Tourism, Vikram Singh Malik, Addl. Superintendent of Police, Rigzin Sangdup, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Mohd; Member, National Commission for minorities, GOI, Rinchen Lhamo, Director LTO, Mipham Otsal, DYSC Tsewang Paljor; Former MP, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, District officers, heads of religious and political organisations and various prominent personalities of Ladakh.

In his address at the dPal rNgam Duston, Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting that it marks the fifth anniversary of our Union Territory status. He emphasized that these five years have been a period of remarkable progress, a testament to the unity and strength of our people. H’CEC Gyalson acknowledged that this progress would not have been possible without the collective contributions of every individual involved. He expressed gratitude to the leaders and the community members who have worked tirelessly towards the development of Ladakh, stressing that their dedication and effort have been pivotal in achieving the advancements we have seen since attaining Union Territory status.

Further, H’CEC highlighted that, “we celebrate not only our achievements but also the rich culture, language, our cultural pride and traditions of Ladakh. It has been eight years since we first began celebrating this event, and each year it grows more significant. This celebration allows us to pay tribute to those who have made great contributions to Ladakh and its people. We honor their legacy, ensuring that their work and dedication are remembered and inspire future generations.”

Additonally, CEC Gyalson stated that,” As we celebrate, let us also remember the importance of preserving our cultural heritage while understanding other cultures. Our future resolution is also to provide a platform for emerging artists and scholars, fostering their growth and ensuring that the vibrant spirit of Ladakh continues to shine.”

The inaugural program concluded with a enthralling performance of the famous ‘Khatok Chenmo Dance’ by all the dignitaries at the Royal Courtyard of Leh Palace.
