Leh, June 5: The National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh concluded the weeklong runup program under Mission Life with celebration of World Environment Day which included mass plantation drive at Trans Himalayan Herbal Garden of National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, today on June 5 

Director General, Central Council for Research in Homeopathy, Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India, Dr Subash Kaushik was the chief guest on the occasion. 

The World Environment Day celebration started with planting of a willow tree by Dr Subash Kaushik and Director, National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh, Dr Padma Gurmet. This was followed by mass plantation of various tree species by the staff and students of National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa.

During the weeklong runup event, various programs were organised at National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa including essay competition, powerpoint presentation competition for students, training on cultivation and restoration of plants and field visit to Herbal Garden and plantation drive. 

A pledge was also taken by all the participants to protect the environment and to motivate citizens to adopt an environment friendly habit.

Director, National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Dr Padma Gurmet presented the prizes to the winning candidates of the various events.
