Kargil, June 16: A devastating accident occurred near Pani Matha on Zojila Pass when a heavy rock fell on an Alto car, resulting in the immediate deaths of two individuals.

The car, traveling from Matayan to Kangan, was struck by the falling rock, causing severe injuries to three other occupants. According to official sources, the incident happened near the Pani Matha area on Zojila Pass. The impact of the rockfall was immediate and catastrophic, leading to the deaths of two passengers at the scene.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated by medical teams from Sonamarg, local police, and nearby residents who rushed to assist. The three injured individuals were quickly transported to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Sonamarg. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, one of the injured succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, raising the death toll to three.
