HUO Conduct Training on Mushroom Cultivation in Drass Sub-Division
VoL Desk, June 01: The Humas Upliftment Organisation, in collaboration with Himalayan Volunteer Tourism and mushroom cultivation expert Mr. Vijay Kumar, organized a 15-day orientation and training program on ‘mushroom cultivation’ in various villages of the Drass Sub-Division.
The training sessions were held in three villages: Sumat, known for its wild mushrooms, Jusgond, and Khunda. Mr. Vijay Kumar, along with local trainer Mr. Bilal Ahmad Lone, who holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture, trained around 100 women in mushroom cultivation.
During the program, participants were trained in the cultivation of two types of mushrooms: Oyster Mushrooms and Milky Mushrooms. The initiative aimed to empower women in these areas and promote self-sufficiency through skill development.
