CEC Kargil attends Bhumi Pujan at new construction site of Monastery
Kargil, June 21: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon attended the Bhumi Pujan ceremony at the new construction site of Buddhist Gonpa (monastery) in Kargil.
Executive Councillor, Revenue, Kacho Mohd Feroz; EC, Information Er. Punchok Tashi; EC, Education, Zakir Hussain; Councillors of LAHDC Kargil, representatives from religious organizations Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Jamiat Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil (JUIAK), Anjuman Ahle Sunnat, President Buddhist Association Kargil, monks, civil society beside others were present.
In his address, the CEC expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Revenue Officers and others for their contribution for the important project. He emphasized the significance of the day, calling it historic for both Kargil and Leh.

Dr. Jaffer highlighted the importance of communal harmony in Ladakh, noting that unity and peaceful coexistence of various communities is essential for the region’s prosperity. He also mentioned the successful conduct of Lok Sabha election.
The CEC congratulated the Buddhist community of Ladakh and expressed hope to invite His Holiness for the official foundation stone-laying ceremony. He underlined the role of religious institutions such as temples, mosques, and Imam Badas in moral health, which he deemed a determining factor alongside physical and mental well-being.
President Buddhist Association Ladakh, Tsering Dorjay Lakrook, also spoke on the occasion and explained the cultural importance of Bhumi Pujan ceremony for any construction project and recognised the day as memorable for Ladakh.
He attributed the contributions and vision of Hill Council Kargil and others. He stressed on the day’s importance in promoting brotherhood and unity among people of Ladakh, thanking all stakeholders for their presence and support.
He said it is a moment of happiness for the Buddhist community of Ladakh symbolising unity, mutual respect, and the collective efforts of various communities in Ladakh.
