GMDC Zanskar organizes 2-day education tour to Kargil

Kargil, May 15: Department of Education, GMDC, Zanskar, conducted a two-day educational tour to Kargil, beginning on May 12, 2024, for the second semester students to give them an experiential learning opportunity.

The students visited the psychology lab of GDC Kargil for a practical session. Dr. Syed Ali Shah, Assistant Professor Psychology of GDC Kargil led a comprehensive tour of the lab and introduced students to various equipment and facilities essential for conducting psychological experiments and research.

Dr Shah then conducted a practical session as well which was beneficial for the students as it served a deeper understanding of the subject.

The students also visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) unit Kargil. Head of the Department, Dr. Mehdi Akhone, welcomed students and provided them valuable hands-on training and knowledge about drip irrigation and mushroom cultivation.

He introduced them to various techniques and methods involved in these sustainable agricultural practices. He encouraged students to imitate such agricultural practices in Zanskar. The tour to KVK remained extremely beneficial for the students.

The students also explored the local Munshi Habibullah Museum to learn about the history and culture of the region. The students learned about the artifacts and exhibits on the display.

On way to Zanskar, the students also visited Sankoo Campus of GDC, Kargil where they interacted with the students and led a tour to a traditional hand embroidery skill center.

The tour offered students invaluable hands-on experience, exposure, and enriched their understanding beyond the confines of classroom learning. Their satisfaction with the tour was clearly expressed.

The tour was conducted under the supervision of Shagufta Zehra, faculty Department of Education. The college administration has expressed gratitude to Principal GDC, Kargil for allowing night stay at the college hostel.
