Kargil, May 09: Students from Biotechnology and Botany departments of GDC Kargil concluded the 2-day tour to Leh from 01-05-2024 to 02-05-2024.

During the two day tour, the students visited institutes of national importance like DRDO-DIHAR, ICAR-CAZRI and SKUAST Leh station.

The students were briefed about best farming practices and crop diversification in Ladakh at DIHAR, by Dr Vinata. Later the students were taken to a field visit at DIHAR where practices like trench farming, micro farming and greenhouse farming were explained.

On the second day of the tour, the students were taken to ICAR-CAZRI Stakna station, and they were explained about farming in arid zones. Eminent scientists like Dr. Maheshwari Singh, Dr. MB Noor and Akash shared their expertise with the students.

On these two days the students were accompanied by Prof. Razia Parveen. Sr. Assistant Prof. in Botany, Prof. Rinchan Angmo, Assistant Prof. in Botany and Prof. Mohd Raza, Assistant Prof. in Biotechnology, GDC Kargil.

The faculties from participating departments thanked the principal GDC Kargil Dr. Amina Qari for permission for such tours that helps in building scientific temper among students.

They further extended their heartfelt thanks to Principal of EJM College Leh Dr. Sameena Iqbal for providing the necessary accommodation for the students during the trip.
