Comm/Secy Higher Education visits UOL’s Kargil Campus, GDC-Kargil’s Sankoo Campus

Kargil, May 11: Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education/Technical Education and Social & Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh on Friday paid a visit to Kargil Campus of University of Ladakh, Khumbuthang, Kargil and the Sankoo Campus of Government Degree College, Kargil. 

She was accompanied by Additional Secretary, Higher Education, Imteeaz Kacho, and Director, College Affairs, Tashi Ldawa. 

During her visit to GDC-Kargil’s Sankoo Campus, she visited the Ladakh Skill Centre of Hand Embroidery and High Altitude Trekking Guide at the Campus.

An interaction session was also held during which students gave their feedback. The Commissioner/Secretary inquired about the courses. The students highlighted opportunities and facilities being provided by the college. 

The Commissioner/Secretary expressed satisfaction over the improvements made by the Campus over the years. 

Asserting the importance of skills, she encouraged students to familiarize themselves with skill courses in order to get more employability and to create their own skill-oriented start-ups.

A meeting with the Campus’ Nodal Officer and staff was also held regarding various facilities was held and the Commissioner/Secretary enquired about facilities like drinking water, heating arrangements etc.he She thoroughly examined the renovation of classrooms.

During her visit to UOL’s Kargil Campus, a meeting was held with Rector, Kargil Campus, Kaneez Fatima and other staff members to discuss various issues. The funding, post creation and other issues related to Tribal Research Institute (TRI) were thoroughly discussed. 

During the meeting, the Commissioner/Secretary was informed that 80 percent work of the under-construction hostel building in the Campus has been completed and the work of prefab classrooms has been tendered. 

The Commissioner/ Secretary directed the Executive Engineer, Suru Valley Division to complete all pending works at the earliest.
