Srinagar 03 Apr (CNS): To capture a leopard, which has been prowling in central Kashmir Ganderbal district’s Fatehpora Kujjar area, a wide-scale search operation was carried out by the wildlife department on Wednesday.

Locals told the news agency CNS that the big cat was spotted in Fetehpora Kujjar following which the wildlife department was informed about the leopard’s roaming, auguring ill for the area and its residents.

“The wildlife department has been making all-out efforts to catch the leopard and is scouring suspected spots in the area,” they said.

It was learnt that the locals have been cautioned to come out of their homes when needed as the leopard’s existence could prove fatal for them, especially children.

It is pertinent to mention that two minors were mauled to death in Budgam district recently after a leopard attacked them.
