Kargil Democratic Alliance Condemns Leh Administration’s Suppression of Peaceful Protest
Kargil, April 6: The Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) in a press release today strongly denounced the recent actions orchestrated by the Leh Administration to suppress peaceful protests within the region.
The imposition of Section 144 in Leh district, along with the deliberate reduction of internet speeds from 3G, 4G, and 5G to a mere 2G limit, represents a calculated effort by the administration to stifle public voices and impede the fundamental right to freedom of expression enshrined in the Constitution of India, stated the press release.
The KDA recognizes these actions as an orchestrated attempt to quell legitimate dissent and silence the voices of those advocating for their rights. By employing such oppressive measures, the Leh Administration is trampling upon the democratic principles that form the cornerstone of our nation.

These measures not only infringe upon the constitutional rights of the Citizens but also undermine the essence of democracy itself.
The Kargil Democratic Alliance affirm their solidarity with the residents of Leh and reiterates its firm commitment to safeguarding their democratic rights. The right to peaceful protest is a fundamental pillar of democracy and must be respected and protected by all authorities, the press release maintained.
We call upon the Leh Administration to immediately revoke the imposition of Section 144 and restore unhindered access to the internet for the residents of Leh. Furthermore, we urge the administration to engage in meaningful dialogue with the protesters and address their grievances in a transparent and democratic manner.
