Chief Electoral Officer, Ladakh, chairs meeting to assess election preparation for the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024

Leh, 26th March, 2024: Chief Electoral Officer, UT Ladakh, Yatendra M. Maralkar chaired a meeting of State Nodal Officers to take stock of preparedness for the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024.

He impressed upon all the State Nodal Officers to take charge of the role and responsibilities assigned to them immediately and submit compliance report to his office on daily basis. He also stressed that the 22 Nodal Officers appointed for various election related tasks may discharge their duties diligently as per the instructions/SOPs/ protocols prescribed by the ECI. 

The CEO emphasized that all the officials and political stakeholders involved in the electoral process may conduct themselves strictly as per the guidelines and instructions issued by the ECI from time to time including the model code of conduct guidelines, media certification instructions and all other relevant legal provisions. He also apprised that deviation from the standing instructions of ECI and legal provisions of the conduct of elections shall be taken very seriously and strict legal actions shall be taken against the defaulters.

The CEO also impressed upon all the stakeholders of election, both official and political, to uphold the Indian democratic traditions and the legal and constitutional provisions in their conduct during the entire election process.

Joint CEO/ Nodal Officer for Expenditure Monitoring Sonam Chosjor, stressed on the coordination among the Nodal Officer for MCC, Nodal Officer for MCMC and Nodal Officer for Expenditure Monitoring. He also read out the instructions relating to the pre-certification of the political advertisements in the meeting.
