Kargil, Feb 16: The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued an advisory regarding an active Western Disturbance expected to affect the Western Himalayan region, including Ladakh, from February 18th to 21st.

Under its influence, light to moderate snowfall is highly likely to occur in most areas of the Kargil district and in many areas of the Leh district. Heavy snowfall is expected at scattered locations, particularly in the higher and middle reaches of Ladakh. During this period, daytime temperatures are expected to decrease by 7-8°C, while nighttime temperatures may rise by 3-4°C.

The probable impacts include temporary disruptions in surface transportation over Zojila, Penzila, Changla, and Khardongla from the 18th to the 21st, as well as disruptions in air transportation on the 19th and 20th.

It is advised to follow traffic advisories for safety and convenience. During heavy snowfall, individuals are urged to stay away from avalanche-prone areas.
