Petition filed in High Court challenging University of Ladakh recruitment
Kargil, Feb. 22: The Ladakh Research Scholar Forum (LRSF) has lodged a petition before the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh challenging the University of Ladakh’s advertisement no. 06 of 2023 dated 21-12-2023 regarding recruitment of teaching faculties in the University.
The High Court in this connection has directed that the selection process shall commence only after the resolution of the petition.
In December 2023, the University of Ladakh initiated the recruitment process for Assistant and Associate Professors across various disciplines, which spark concerns among applicants due to the recruitment in absence of a proper roaster and reservation policy in several fields.

Following the recruitment announcement, the LRSF expressed resentment over the issue and numerous socio-religious and political institutions also raised objections to the process.
As the officials of University of Ladakh did not responded to the concerns of the scholar’s forum, the Ladakh Research Scholar Forum took the matter to the High Court of J&K and Ladakh by filing a petition. The petitioner alleges that the university failed to adhere to reservation rules, overlooked UGC guidelines pertaining to the selection process, and neglected to provide reservation for differently abled individuals.
Furthermore, the petitioner contends that neither the University of Ladakh nor the Union Territory of Ladakh has established its own Service Rules or Reservation Rules.
Meanwhile, the court has decreed that the selection process shall only commence after the petition has been resolved.
