Leh Apex Body Threatens Fasting if February 19 Meeting Fails
VoL Desk, Feb. 05: Following the Leh Chalo Andolan on February 03, the Leh Apex Body (LAB) held a press conference, announcing their intent to participate in the February 19, 2024, meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in New Delhi. However, they warned that if no positive decision is reached regarding their 4-point agenda, they will commence a fasting process until their demands are met.
During the media address,Thupstan Chhewang the president of LBA, expressed determination in the face of potential disappointment. He emphasized that if the meeting on February 19 does not yield favorable outcomes, the protest will persist, with the struggle continuing unabated.
Thupstan Chhewang disclosed that the Apex Body in Leh has established a socio-religious committee chaired by Tsering Dorgay Lakruk, comprising youth representatives which will oversee future programs.

He outlined the planned sequence of events, indicating that a protest will precede the fasting process. He urged the general public to participate in fasting as a show of solidarity, asserting that even in the event of fatalities during fasting, the protest will persist without interruption.
Additionally, Chhewang noted that the registration of volunteers for the fasting process has commenced.
