VoL Desk, Feb. 26: The birth anniversary of Imam Mohammad Mehdi, the contemporary Imam, was celebrated across Kargil district. The major event was held at district headquarter under the banner of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil (IKMT) and Jamiatul Ulema Isna Ashriya, Kargil (JUIAK).

In the morning a procession was held by IKMT which begins from Imam Khomeini Tower and passing through main bazaar culminated at Jamia Masjid, Kargil. At Jama Masjid, a major congregation was held under the Chairmanship of the Executive Chairman IKMT, Sheikh Mohammad Sadiq Rajaie. During the event, speakers shed light on the topic of Mehdaviat and children and poets recited naat in honour of Imam Zamana.

At the end of the event cash prices were distributed to the students of MPS, Kargil for their best performance on the occasion of 26 January event which was held at Leh. Cash prices were also given to the students of Jamia Imam Khomeini, Kargil for their selection at India level for further studies in Iran.

Another event was held at Jamiatul Ulema Isna Ashriya, Kargil, under the chairmanship of Vice President Shiekh Ghulam Ali where thousands of people gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of Imam Mohammad Mehdi the last Imam as per Shia school of thought.

Hazrat Hujjat ibn Hasan al-Askari (A.S.) the Twelfth Holy Imam, Al-Mahdi was born on 15th Shaban in 255 A.H. in Samarrah (Iraq).

There existed a good deal of harmony and uniformity between the aspects pertaining to the births of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), the last Apostle of God and Imam Mahdi, The last Apostolical Imam. Just as the coming of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) was prophesied well in advance by the preceding Prophets, similarly the impending news of the gracious birth of Imam Al-Mahdi was foretold by the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.).
