Drass Delegation Meets LG, Demands District Status
VoL Desk, Jan. 17: The Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig. (Dr) BD Mishra called on the delegation of Drass Sub-division comprising the Councilor Rambirpora, Abdul Samad, Councillor, Bhimbat, Abdul Wahid and other members. During the meeting the delegation put forth their demand before the LG.
During the meeting the delegation requested the LG for his intervention in giving District status to Drass Sub-division. Besides, they demanded for the promotion of winter tourism; extension of days for the celebration of Vijay Diwas, to boost patriotic tourism; construction of irrigation Khuls from Marpochoo to Thasgam and Youlboo to Kharboo; the opening of the Drass-Gurez road to boost Tourism activities; fixation of boundaries on the UT Ladakh and UT J&K border; doctors on health center; need to install Gondola in Drass; need to development of Zojila pass as tourist hub and the opening of new trekking routes in Drass Sub-division, etc.
The LG assured for fulfilling their demand which comes under his authority, and which are in the interest of wide public interest and said that their demand will be fulfilled after proper assessment and ground research.

He instructed commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture to work on the development and the promotion of tourism activities in Ladakh. He asked Secretary, Youth and Service and sports, to develop high-end sports infrastructure at Drass to promote winter and year- round sports.
The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Comm. Secy. Tourism, Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar, Director Health and other concerned officials.
