CEC Kargil calls on LG J&K, discuss various issues
Kargil, Jan 30: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Monday called on Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha to address various issues pertaining to residents of Kargil post reorganization on August 5, 2019.
The CEC apprised issues related to the Admission for Kargil Students in various Colleges and Universities of J&K and requested for the continuation of reservation quotas in J&K universities for Kargil students.
Dr Jaffer emphasized for special relaxation for Kargil patients in various medical institutions of J&K, including AIIMS, SKIMS and Medical Colleges and appointment of a Liaison Officer and dedicated Sarai facilities.

CEC Jaffer urged for basic facilities in various Kargil Colonies in Jammu and asked for provision of amenities, drainage, roads, sanitation, and graveyard space at Narwal Bala Bathindi in Jammu.
He requested for LG’s intervention for timely settlement of service and pensionary benefits for PSU employees affected by reorganisation.
Dr Jaffer emphasised the continuation of exemptions from Octroi for Kargil vehicles at Ganderbal, Sumbal, and Sonamarg.
Further, he apprised the provision of seats for Ladakh aspirants in J&K technical education institutions.
Dr Jaffer also requested to provide designated spaces in Srinagar and Jammu for Kargil-bound taxis and also asked for intervention regarding speedy handover of land by JDA at Channi Jammu for constructing of Kargil Sarai.
After a patient hearing LG Manoj Sinha assured to redress all the issues feasible for resolution in phased manner. Later, he expressed his gratitude and hoped for a positive resolution to address concerns of Kargil residents.
