Kargil, Jan 28: Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil, Dr Jaffer Akhoon inaugurated the 15th CEC Ice Hockey Championship 2024 organized by Department of Youth Service and Sports at Ice Hockey Rink at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Bemathang, Kargil.

CEC, LAHDC Kargil Dr Jaffer Akhoon, ADC Kargil Ghulam Mohi ud din Wani, CEO, District Youth Services Sports officer Kargil, Abid Ali, District officers and participating teams were present at the inaugural Ceremony.

Addressing the players, the CEC said that all possible helps are being initiated by LAHDC Kargil and UT Administration. He added that for the promotion of the ice hockey in Ladakh, the UT administration has provided ice hockey sets to 10 teams of the district and the Council will provide the kits to all other teams so that they can perform better in different competitions.

Expressing delight, he commended the overwhelming participation of young players in the district and extended appreciation for their dedication and efforts. He also urged the athletes to take advantage of the opportunities and dedicate themselves in their respective sports.

DYSSO Abid Ali presented welcome speech and said 31 Male and 04 Female Ice Hockey Teams are participating in the 12-day tournament and said that the department has been successfully conducting CEC Ice Hockey Cup Championship for last 14th years and this year also despite warm weather condition the department made it possible to start the tournament on its schedule date.

Pertinently, Drass Worrier won the inaugural match against DWGA-Red with the margin of 14-0 goals, Friends Pashkum won over LOC Hundurman with the margin of 18-0 goals.
