Kargil, Dec 14: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon chaired a meeting to take an assessment of hostel facilities/winter coaching classes for class 10th & 12th in the district during winter vacation period, at Conference Hall Kargil.

Executive Councilor for Education, Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor, Tourism, Kacho Mohammed Feroz, Executive Councillor for Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mujtaba, Director School Education, Tsering Paldan, Chief Education Officer, Principals and Headmasters of all Government High and Higher Secondary Schools were present during the meeting.

During the meeting, in-depth discussions and deliberations took place, during which the Chief Education Officer Kargil, Deputy CEO, and Principals/Headmasters presented their proposals and suggestions.

Earlier, EC Zakir Hussain briefed about the purpose of the meeting and the process that underwent in last few months about the winter classes.

In the meeting, the Director of School Education emphasized the importance of taking winter coaching seriously. This approach is intended to ensure that a wide range of students can derive benefits from it, and all schools are well-prepared for the upcoming examinations scheduled for February.

Following the discussions, CEC Dr Jaffer suggested that, given the harsh winters, day boarding classes for students should be considered. Additionally, as a pilot project, both day and night boarding will be implemented on an optional basis at selected schools.

The CEC mentioned that, earned leaves would also be taken into consideration for the employees. In addition, incentives will be provided, and for contractual staff, incentives will also be taken into account.

CEC Dr Jaffer directed the headmasters to prioritize the completion of syllabus and revision. He stressed that there should be no compromise on the results, and maximum efforts should be made to ensure that students benefit from the winter classes.

It was further decided that winter classes for class 10th and 12th will continue without going for winter vacation. The CEC emphasized that there is a moral responsibility to guide society in the right direction, underscoring the significant role that teachers play in fulfilling this responsibility.
