Kargil, Dec 19: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon chaired a meeting to review winter preparedness at Dak Bungalow, Drass.

The meeting was attended by Councilor Bhimbhat, Sub Divisional Magistrate Drass, Naib-Tehsildar Drass and various Sub Divisional Officers.

During the meeting, SDM Drass briefed the chair about the position of winter stocking/preparedness by the various departments and the status of Kargil- Srinagar Highway came under discussion in the meeting.

The Chairman/CEC approached to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh telephonically and requested to issue necessary direction to the concerned authorities of Project Vijayak to keep the road clear for vehicular movement up to India Gate.

The Chairman/ CEC also requested to GOC 8th Mountain Division to provide logistic support like accommodation to the Travellers/ passengers at Gumri till the closure of the Kargil- Srinagar road.

The GOC 8th Mountain Division assured the Chairman/CEC for providing all possible logistic support wherever needed to the travellers.

CEC Dr Jaffer directed all the sub-divisional offices to keep their resources ready to mobilize for winter and minimize the inconvenience to the people.
