VoL Desk, November 1, 2023 – The Union Territory of Ladakh celebrated its 5th Foundation Day today in a grand function at Leh, attended by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu ji. The Hon’ble LG Ladakh expressed heartfelt gratitude for her maiden visit to Ladakh on this significant occasion and shared “inspiring story of Ladakh’s developmental journey” across various fields.

The celebration, graced by elected representatives, administrative and army officials, and heads of public and private organizations, was highlighted by captivating cultural performances by school children from Ladakh. The event aimed to showcase Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage and progress.

During the event, the Hon’ble President, Smt Droupadi Murmu ji, met with the Veer Naaris of Ladakh, acknowledging the immense sacrifices made by Ladakhi bravehearts in the line of duty. She expressed deep emotions and immense pride in meeting these courageous individuals. The Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra was also present during this interactive session, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.

Earlier, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra extended a warm welcome to the Hon’ble President of India on her maiden visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh.

The Chief of Army Staff, Gen Manoj Pande, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, along with other dignitaries, including CEC Leh, Sh. Tashi Gyalson, CEC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer, and MP Ladakh, Sh. Jamyang Namgyal, were also present to receive the Hon’ble President, making the event a grand and memorable affair for the people of Ladakh.
