After an Executive Body meeting, President Ashraf Barcha stressed discontinuing retirement celebrations in Ladakh, citing their strain on the local economy. He called on the public to abstain from organizing or participating in such events.
Additionally, Barcha emphasized ending the practice of serving tea to the bride and groom on the marriage route by all relatives. He instructed the community to restrict this custom to the households of the bride and groom. Furthermore, he urged against using fireworks at weddings, considering their contribution to noise and air pollution in Ladakh’s delicate environment.
Barcha suggested that community elders deliberate on new customs or community requirements to assess their pros and cons before adopting them, firmly emphasizing the avoidance of introducing such practices into society.
Besides President Ashraf Narcha, Vice-President Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, President Women Wing Nasreen Fatima, Joint Secretary Asgar Ali and others joined the press conference.
