75th Anniversary of Youm-e-Fateh held with patriotic fervour in Kargil

Kargil, Nov 23, 2023: To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Youm-e-Fateh, Liberation of Kargil from Pakistani intruders on 23 Nov 1948, Forever in Operations Division of the Indian Army in collaboration with LAHDC, Kargil, District Administration and Kargil Police today organized a mega event at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Kargil.

Prior to the main event, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, Maj Gen Sachin Malik, YSM, GOC Forever in Operations Division, Executive Councilor, Aga Syeed Mujtaba Mussavi, Executive Councilor, Er. Punchok Tashi, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse, Brigade 121 Infantry Brigade and other officers paid tributes by lying wreath at Kargil War Memorial at Helipad Kargil and paid rich tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.

At Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, the other dignitaries who were present at the event included Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, ADC Ghulam Mohi-ud-In Wani, district officers/officials and Police Officers, ex-servicemen, senior citizens, civil society members, student of different schools of Kargil and officials of various departments.

The CEC on the occasion took salute at an impressive march past presented by Ladakh, Police, NCC cadets, students of Harka Bahadur, Mutahary Public School Kurbathang, Govt. Boys High School Baroo, Govt. High School Baroo, students of SAI and others.

A colourful ceremony was organized at the stadium. Veterans, public and school children attended the cultural program and visited the stall where weapons and equipment were on display. The medical camp which was part of the program was attended by large number of people. Different tribes of Purgi, Shina, Balti and Dardi presented cultural dances. Guljabeen Fatima, a local rapper from Kargil presented her rap song on Indian Army and dedicated it to the Jawans serving on the borders.

Hundreds of locals and army personnel participated in the program. Colorful programs were also performed by the students from various schools of Kargil district.

It is to mention that the programme was organized to express gratitude and salute to the Indian Army who entered into Kargil district via Zojila in 1948.The Chief Guest, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions organized as part of the celebrations.

In his address on the occasion of Yom-e-Fateh, the CEC paid heartfelt tributes to the valiant soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. He also extended sincere congratulations to the commendable Army Officers and soldiers on Youm-e-Fateh for their dedicated service.

In expressing his admiration for the Indian Army, he underscored that the Indian Army has not only safeguarded the borders of Kargil but has also played a pivotal role in advancing education, healthcare, and disaster management initiatives in the region.

He remarked that the event served not only as a tribute to history but also as a platform fostering a spirit of national building. This resonated with the resilient character that defines the community of Kargil.

He conveyed that the Army has been actively involved in training the youth, preparing them to participate in Army and other recruitment processes throughout the Ladakh region. The CEC assured full cooperation and coordination with the Indian Army for addressing any kind of issue.

The event featured captivating presentations of patriotic songs that enthralled the audience. One of the major highlights of the day was the Khukri Dance performed by units of the Indian Army, symbolizing the formidable advance of The First Battalion The Fifth Gorkha Rifles (1/5 GR).

The Liberation of Kargil has brought tremendous improvements to the region in the past 75 years. The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, the Kargil District administration and the Indian Army have joined hands to bring out about synergized and coordinated development that has met the aspirations of the local population.

Subsequently, the chief guest and other dignitaries conducted a thorough inspection of the Indian Army stalls, where comprehensive medical facilities and check-ups were made available for the attendees. The distinguished guests engaged in interactions with army officers, gaining insights into the services provided. Notably, one of the event’s stalls was dedicated to the generation of Ayushman Bharat Cards.

The chief guest also inspected stalls showcasing weapons and equipment. Throughout the exhibition, Army Officers provided comprehensive briefings, elucidating the features and capabilities of the displayed weaponry and equipment.
