Phyang Councillor Tundup Nubu Cheetah Accuses Ladakh MP of Misleading Public
VoL Desk, Oct. 27 – Tundup Nubu Cheetha, Phyang Councillor, LAHDC Leh has accused Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgial of misleading the people of Ladakh on various issues. Cheetha expressed his concerns during a press conference held in Leh on Friday.
In July, the MP had met with the Secretary of Education, Government of India, requesting the creation of permanent posts in the school education department of Ladakh for Bhoti language teachers. Cheetah, in a press conference, refuted the MP’s claims as mere promises. However, Namgial had later posted on Facebook that 292 permanent Bhoti language teacher posts would be created.
A recent order by the Education Department dated October 9 revealed that the advertised 292 posts are purely contractual, as clarified in the notice issued by the CEO Kargil under Samagra Shiksha. Moreover, these contracts are expected to last only four to five months until the end of the financial year.

Despite the BJP’s claim of significant investments in the MSME sector in Ladakh, totaling 562.92 crores over three years, there has been no visible impact on the ground. An RTI filed with the Development Commissioner, MSME in Delhi, yielded no relevant information, and a subsequent inquiry with the ministry itself received a response stating that such data is not maintained.
Furthermore, the Executive Councillor for Industries in the LAHDC Leh and the District Industries Center officer also failed to provide any details about the availability of such funds, raising questions about the government’s transparency and accountability.
Cheetha also highlighted the lack of progress regarding the inclusion of “Bhoti” language in the 8th schedule of the constitution. Despite only four months remaining in the MP’s term, no improvements have been made in this regard.
Additionally, Cheetha accused Namgial of inaugurating projects proposed and executed by other public representatives, in which the MP had no contribution whatsoever.
