Zanskar, 14-OCT-2023: Two days Ladakh Zanskar Festival-2023 concluded today at Padum with enthralling performances of artists and participation of crowd in thousands in number, to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh.

Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, Commissioner Secretary, Department of Tourism and Culture, UT Ladakh, was the chief guest to grace besides Sonam Dorje , Sub Division Magistrate, Zanskar, was the Guest of Honor.

Deputy Secretary Tourism & Culture Nazir Hussain, AD Tourism Aga Toha, Under Secretary to Commission/Secretary Tourism and Culture Mohammad Ali Tak, concerned officers, cultural enthusiasts, artists and good number of crowd were present during the concluding ceremony of the festival.

Deputy Secretary Culture,Nazir Hussain expressed his gratitude to all volunteers, government departments, organizers, the Hotel Association of Zanskar, contractors, self-help groups, entrepreneurs, and the Press Clubs of Zanskar, Kargil, and Leh for their support in making the festival a success.

The closing ceremony featured an array of traditional ethnic cultural troupes from various regions, including Zanskar, Kargil, Drass, Aryan Valley, and Himachal Pradesh’s Lahul, Spiti, Kannur. Their performances reflected the diverse cultural tapestry, receiving applause from the audience.

The cultural performances were a highlight of the evening, featuring performances by renowned bands, such as Dorjey Stakmo and Group, Padma Dolker & Group, Dashugs Band, Lyuyangs Band, Rolyangs Band, Faisal Ashoor and Band, Javed Sheena & Party, Gulzar Mendoktsar & Party, and Sonam Aryan & Group. 

The Festival aimed to support traditional folk artists, cultural performers, handloom and handicraft artisans, traditional nomadic life (Doksa), and traditional archery sports besides Ladakh Zanskar Festival-2023 was a celebration of culture, tradition, and unity. The Closing Ceremony proceedings were  conducted by Dechan Angmo, Yountan Angmo and Stanzin Yountan.
