Judicial Magistrate in Sankoo Sentences Convict in 2019 Theft Case
VoL Desk, October 25, 2023 – The Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Sankoo, under the able supervision of Mr. Shafiq Mushtaq Lone, pronounced the verdict today, in a theft case dating back to 2019.
After thorough deliberation, wherein both the Assistant Public Prosecutor and the defense counsel presented their arguments, the Court reached a verdict. The convict was found guilty of criminal trespass and stealing batteries installed at KREDA under sections 457 & 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The convict has been sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of one year for the offense under section 457 IPC and an additional one year for the offense under section 380 IPC. Additionally, the Court has imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000/- on the convict for the aforementioned offenses. The fine is to be paid to the concerned department, i.e., KREDA.

The terms of imprisonment will run concurrently. Failure to pay the fine will result in an extended imprisonment of 20 days, in addition to the proposed sentence.
