Vol Desk, september 06: The residents of Kaltsi in Leh District have expressed their strong opposition to the installation of smart meters in their area, citing concerns over the lack of consultation and consideration by the administration.

Speaking to a local media channel, the Sarpanch of Kaltsi, alleged that the administration had proceeded with the installation of smart meters without seeking input from the local residents. He emphasized that many of the locals in the area have limited digital knowledge and do not own smartphones, which makes them unfamiliar with the advantages and disadvantages of smart meters.

They pointed out that nearby areas had already seen the installation of smart meters, the residents of Kaltsi are now urging them to uninstall these devices. They have made it clear that they will not permit any installation of smart meters in their community.
