LG Ladakh Directs Transfer of Assets and Launch of Agriculture Department at UoL
Leh, September 4: A high-level meeting was recently convened, with Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra, to address the crucial issue of transferring assets and posts from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-Kashmir) to the University of Ladakh (UoL).
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Sh. Stanzin Chosphel, the Executive Councillor for Agriculture; Sh. Ravinder Kumar, IAS, Secretary of Agriculture; and Ms. Padma Angmo, IIS, Secretary of Higher Education, among others.During the meeting, various aspects of this significant transition were discussed, and a clear roadmap was laid out.
One of the most notable directives came from the Lt. Governor himself, who instructed the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ladakh to initiate preparations for establishing a fully-fledged Department of Agriculture at the University of Ladakh without delay.

Furthermore, as part of the asset transfer process, it was decided that the assets currently held by SKUAST-Kashmir will be transitioned to the Agriculture Department of the University of Ladakh as soon as it becomes fully operational.
This development is expected to have a significant and positive impact on agriculture and education in Ladakh, supporting the aspirations of the local community and contributing to the overall growth and development of the region.
